Definitions

I realize that sometimes I use words that people don’t understand, words that are real words in my life, words that I or someone else made up.  Here I’ll try to define them.

Attending: a doctor, finished training in a speciality, makes final decisions in medical care, your primary care doctor is one of these (one of my tunnel ends!)

Doodle: my son

Hubby: my husband

Fellow: a doctor in training in a subspeciality, has completed a residency, might be board-certified in primary speciality, might be moonlighting as an attending in primary speciality (mine was Medical Toxicology)

Intern: a resident in their first year, may be a general internship that doesn’t really specialize much, may just be the first year (mine was General Surgery…long story…)

Resident: a doctor in training in a speciality (mine was Emergency Medicine)
